Refund and Return Policy

Magneto SF (MAGNETOSFCOM LLC) — last updated 26 August 2026

Please read this policy before you order. It explains when you can get a refund or a replacement, and when you can't. Because every magnet is made to order from a photo you supply, our return rules are different from an ordinary shop's.

The short version

  • We do not accept change-of-mind returns on custom magnets. They are made specifically for you and cannot be resold.
  • We will always fix genuine problems. If your magnet arrives damaged, defective, misprinted, or is not what you ordered, we will reprint it or refund you.
  • Tell us within 30 days of delivery, with a photo of the problem.
  • You can cancel free of charge within 2 hours of ordering, as long as we have not started printing.
  • Refunds go back to your original payment method, including any sales tax we charged.

1. Custom, made-to-order items

Every magnet is printed with the photograph you upload. Once printing begins, the item has no value to anyone but you, so we cannot take it back simply because you changed your mind, ordered the wrong size, or no longer want it.

This exclusion applies to:

  • change of mind
  • ordering the wrong size (50x50 mm instead of 80x80 mm, or vice versa)
  • uploading the wrong photograph
  • deciding you don't like how your own photo looks once printed

We are not obliged to accept these returns, but we are human — if something has gone wrong for you, email us and we will see what we can do. Any goodwill remedy we offer in one case does not oblige us to offer it in another.

2. Cancelling before we print

You can cancel your order for a full refund if you email hello@magnetosf.com with your order number within 2 hours of placing the order, and we have not yet started production.

Because we are made-to-order, production often starts quickly. If printing has already begun, we cannot cancel, but we will tell you honestly where your order stands.

If we cancel your order (see section 6), you get a full refund including any shipping you paid.

3. Damaged, defective or wrongly printed items

You are fully covered here. Contact us within 30 days of delivery if:

  • the magnet arrived broken, bent, scratched or damaged in transit
  • the print is defective — smearing, streaking, missing ink, peeling, a bad cut, a weak magnet
  • we printed the wrong photo, the wrong size, or the wrong quantity
  • the parcel never arrived (see our Shipping Policy for lost-parcel timelines)

How to claim: email hello@magnetosf.com with your order number and a clear photograph of the problem (and of the packaging, if it was damaged in transit). We do not usually need the item back — a photo is enough.

What you get: your choice of a free replacement or a full refund, including the shipping you paid. We cover the cost either way. You will not be charged to send anything back; if we do ask for the item back, we pay the return postage.

4. What is not a defect

We want to be straight with you about the limits of photo printing.

Low-resolution uploads. A blurry, pixelated or heavily compressed photo will print blurry and pixelated. We recommend a minimum of 1000 x 1000 pixels for the 50 mm magnet and 1600 x 1600 pixels for the 80 mm magnet — roughly 500 dpi at print size. Screenshots, images saved from social media, and photos sent through messaging apps are often far below this. We print what you send us. If the finished magnet is soft or grainy because the file you uploaded was low quality, that is not a defect and is not refundable.

Color differences between your screen and the print. Screens emit light; ink on paper reflects it. Colors — especially bright blues, deep blacks and vivid reds — will not match your screen exactly, and every screen is calibrated differently. Reasonable color variation is normal and is not a defect.

Cropping. Every magnet is square, so we crop your photo to a square ourselves before printing. We center the crop. If your photo is not already square, some of the edges will be trimmed away — so please keep what matters near the middle. If the subject of your photo sits right at an edge, tell us in the order notes and we will do our best, or email us and we will look at it with you before we print.

We look at every photo before we print it. If a file looks too small, too blurry or too dark to print well, we will email you before making anything and give you the chance to send a better one or cancel for a full refund. We check carefully, but we cannot promise to catch every problem, and a problem we did not spot does not by itself make a poor result our fault.

5. Wrong address

If a parcel is returned to us because the shipping address you entered was incomplete or wrong, we will refund the item price minus the original shipping cost, or reship it if you pay shipping again. Please check your address at checkout.

6. Orders we refuse

We may refuse or cancel an order — before or after payment — if the uploaded content breaches our Acceptable Use rules in the Terms of Service: infringing, obscene, hateful, sexually exploitative, involving minors inappropriately, or otherwise unlawful.

If we refuse your order, you get a full refund of everything you paid. We will tell you the order was refused. We may decline to explain our reasoning in detail.

7. How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the original payment method used at checkout — the card, Shop Pay account or other method you paid with. We cannot refund to a different card or send cash, a cheque or store credit instead.

Sales tax. Where we charged California sales tax, that tax is refunded along with the item. On a partial refund, we refund the tax in proportion to the amount refunded.

Shipping charges. If the fault is ours — defect, misprint, wrong item, transit damage — we refund the shipping you paid as well. On a change-of-mind cancellation within the 2-hour window, shipping is refunded in full because nothing has shipped.

Timing. Once we issue a refund it usually appears within 5-10 business days, depending on your bank or card issuer — that part is out of our hands. Shop Pay and card refunds are processed through Shopify Payments.

Chargebacks. If something goes wrong, please email us first. We would much rather fix it directly, and we can usually do so faster than a bank dispute. If you do raise a chargeback, we will respond to it with our order records, upload logs and delivery confirmation.

8. Your rights under California law

California Civil Code section 1723 requires retailers to post their refund policy conspicuously. This policy is posted in our website footer, is linked at checkout, and is available on every page. It is our stated refund policy for the purposes of that section.

Nothing in this policy limits any right you have under California or United States consumer law that cannot lawfully be limited — including your rights in respect of goods that are defective or not as described.
